How does an Indian remittance normally work?
Use an RBI-regulated authorised dealer bank or other authorised channel. The Reserve Bank of India’s Master Direction on the Liberalised Remittance Scheme says resident individuals may remit up to the applicable LRS limit for permitted current or capital account transactions, and the remitter must furnish the prescribed information, including Form A2 through the authorised dealer. Education remittances also have tax and reporting implications that depend on the current rules and the bank’s process.

How should parents evaluate refund terms?
Refund rules are university- and document-specific. There is no universal Vietnam MBBS refund promise that applies to every institution, intake or intermediary. Ask whether the application fee, seat confirmation, tuition, hostel deposit, visa support fee and service fee are treated differently. Check what happens if admission is refused, the visa is refused, documents are incomplete, the student withdraws, the programme changes or the university cannot confirm the stated intake.
Look for the deadline for a refund request, required evidence, permitted deductions, currency used for repayment, bank charges, expected processing time and the person authorised to approve it. A verbal statement such as “full refund if visa is rejected” is incomplete until the exact condition appears in the university’s written terms.

Pressure and secrecy are warning signs. Be cautious when someone:
- asks for cash, cryptocurrency, a personal account or a different beneficiary from the invoice;
- refuses to share the university’s official fee document;
- promises a guaranteed admission, visa, refund or seat;
- asks you to split a payment to avoid bank checks;
- changes bank details by WhatsApp without independent confirmation; or
- asks for OTPs, card PINs, banking passwords or an original passport.
Keep an evidence folder with the offer, invoice, terms, emails, bank receipt, receipt from the university and all amendments. If bank details change, pause the payment and verify them through an independently sourced official university contact.
What does a current university notice establish?
A published fee notice answers only the items it actually states.
